We Need Your Help! Assalamu alaikum Ismail! InshaAllah you're in the best of health and imaan. This month at Nour, we have been extremely privileged to share an exclusive story with you by the renowned author Na’ima B Roberts – She Waits for Him. Though the story is fictional, it unfortunately reflects the real life crisis of many victims and also helps to break down the self-imposed barrier of reality and myth by those who are sceptical about just how widespread and evil domestic violence is. She Waits for Himhelps us to realise the many faces the offender can take the form of and that, surprisingly, one of those faces is of trust, faith and honour towards his community which is replaced with a violent one inside of his home. We have had much positive feedback from the public but more importantly the awareness that was raised by this single story was more than we could have hoped for or anticipated. This was reflected by more survivors reaching out and contacting us, as well as others who are in this unfortunate crisis and have contacted Nour for help. Nour has also recently been recognised internationally, whereby the Saudi Gazette (one of the largest and most read newspapers in Saudi Arabia) approached us for ashort interview with one of our counsellors. Receiving international attention is indicative of the success and awareness that Nour has so quickly developed . Nour has slowly, but surely been progressing since our launch, and we have a lot planned for the new year, including events and more inspiring articles. The team at Nour have also been excitedly preparing a video trailer for Nour featuring a few guest speakers and notable Islamic scholars, so watch this space! But most importantly we need your help Ismail and want to hear from you! So, if you have any innovative ideas for us or would like to see an article about a particular subject related to domestic violence, then please let us know by replying to this email. We would like to end by wishing you a beautiful winter holiday and look forward to writing to you and hearing from you in the New Year! Please be sure to remember Nour in your du'as, JazakAllahu Khairan, Love, Nour | ||
